Health insurer Centene announced it is once again expanding its Obamacare footprint, expanding in 10 states where it already sells subsidized individual coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

Centene already sells Obamacare to 1.9 million Americans across 20 states and will expand in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.

This could have a huge impact for consumers in those states considering that the selection of carriers is shrinking every year. Most states offered 5 or more carriers to its consumers but every year, that number shrinks. Some states only offer 1 carrier which makes things very challenging for the consumer when it comes to finding a doctor that accepts their plan and providing some type of variety of coverage and price ranges.

With Centene expanding, it will provide consumers with more options and maybe other carriers will follow suit.
